The high-end Image IW-846 in-wall three-way speaker features and adjustable crossover, silk dome tweeter, new 4”x 6” midrange and 8” carbon fiber woofer with phase plug. 2007: Earthquake Sound is now shipping the long-awaited updated version of their
high-end Image IW-846 in-wall speaker system. Their prestigious three-way
speaker now includes an adjustable crossover network and wider sound dispersion
to increase the precision, clarity, and overall sound quality of any system.
Intended for the very best home-audio, home audio/video, and home-theater
systems, the newly named and revamped Image IW-846X is a three-driver three-way
speaker containing an adjustable silk-dome tweeter, a newly developed 4 x 6"
midrange (for enhanced dialogue), and an 8" carbon-fiber cone woofer with phase
plug.
All drivers are arrayed systematically to provide mounting flexibility and
produce the unerring accuracy associated with the Earthquake brand. And the 846X
comes with a 31/2" built-in back box for fantastic bass-reflex response.

The Image IW-846X represents an important option for installers and homeowners

speaker. Earthquake loaded the IW-846X with a combination of the finest parts,
true innovation, unmatched performance, and ease of installation. The speaker
fits between standard 16" studs, vertically or horizontally, making it
especially easy for installers to physically and sonically match the IW-846X
with any of Earthquake's Image speaker systems.
Alternatively, the IW-846X can be ideally paired with Earthquake's Thor/IW-Sub10
in-wall subwoofer to create a complete seamless and stealthy "invisible"
home-audio or home-theater speaker system.
Frequency response of the IW-846X is specified at 30 to 22,000 Hz ±3 dB,
recommended power is 40 to 500 watts, and sensitivity is rated at 93 dB. Nominal
impedance is 8 ohms. Cutout dimensions are 143/4" x 91/2", grille-frame
dimensions are 153/4" x 101/2", and depth behind the wall is 31/2".
The Image IW-846X carries a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $3,499.00.
