WITH MULTI-FORMAT PLAYBACK OPTIONS

-Two DVD Players and CD Player Feature RS-232C Interface

for Easy Integration Into Custom Installations-

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Yamaha Electronics Corporation, the innovator in home theater and digital audio and video reproduction, exhibits three DVD players, the DVD-S2700, DVD-S1700 and DVD-S659, and a five-disc CD changer, the CDC-697, at International CES 2007. The DVD-S2700 and DVD-S1700 provide HDMI output, with 1080p upconversion, for outstanding image quality. The CDC-697 CD changer offers superior digital performance and CD-RW disc compatibility. The DVD-S2700, DVD-S1700 and CDC-697 feature RS-232C interfaces that enable them to be controlled by computer in custom installations. Members of the media are invited to see the new models at Yamaha’s CES booth (#12128).

Yamaha’s DVD-S1700 and DVD-S2700 features Noise Shaped Video™, which improves the accuracy of signal representation and allows images to be displayed at much higher resolutions. Other advanced technologies and features that maximize image quality include Faroudja DCDi processing and 216 MHz/12-Bit Video DAC. Progressive scanning (for NTSC and PAL formats) delivers a smoother, film-like image when viewed on a high definition TV or large screen

Both models can playback DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD content, as well as files encoded in MP3 (audio), JPEG (images), DivX® (video) and WMA (audio). Audio Direct Mode switches off the front panel display and takes the video circuitry out of the signal path so that audio quality during playback is not compromised. Bass Management, particularly important for realizing the full effect of DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD content, routes the bass frequencies accordingly for the best performance from a multi-speaker home theater system.

The DVD-S1700 and DVD-S2700 are driven by on-screen displays with graphical user interfaces (GUI). An aluminum front panel finish gives both models a sophisticated look and feel.

The DVD-2700 has added features to ensure superior sound quality, including four top performance 192kHz/24-Bit 2-channel audio DACs and a large transformer exclusively for the audio section. Independent chambers for the power supply, and operational and video circuits prevent interference between sections.

Also debuting at CEDIA is Yamaha’s DVD-S659 progressive scan DVD player with HDMI interface, 1080i and 720p upscaling, and DivX® Ultra Certification. The unit can playback all versions of DivX® video, including DivX® 6, with enhanced playback of DivX® media files and the DivX® media format. The unit can also play content in MP3, JPEG and WMA formats. The DVD-S659 is driven by an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI).

Other advanced features of the DVD-S659 include Night Mode, which enables users to hear audio with the proper tonal balance and dynamic range when watching movies at low volumes; multiple options for viewing picture CDs (JPEG); and versatile MP3 playback with fast forward, rewind, repeat and shuffle playback.

The CDC-697 five-disc carousel CD changer enables users to enjoy hours of uninterrupted music. PlayXchange allows up to four discs to be changed while the fifth continues to play. Yamaha’s Super-Silent Mechanism isolates the playing disc from vibration, ensuring smooth disc rotation and high quality sound reproduction. Also guarding against the effects of vibration is the unit’s laser pickup that is isolated on a floating mechanism. The Intelligent Digital Servo System uses a microcomputer to monitor the audio signal and compensate for any problems such as disc defects, warpage and dust.

Convenience features of the CDC-697 include 40-Track Random Access Programmable Play and Clear that allow custom play lists to be quickly created and deleted; Disc Intro Scan that plays the first 8 seconds of songs so that the desired track can be found; and 3-Mode CD Text Display that shows CD title, artist’s name and the name of the song currently playing. A full function remote includes digital volume control for the player as well as headphones.

Yamaha’s new DVD and CD players are currently available for the following suggested retail prices:

·        DVD-S1700 ($449.95)
